Because the signal could not be received a second time and thus could not be validated, it is likely to have a rather unspactacular origin, like terrestric radiowave-reflection from an orbital or interplanetary object, but:
- Immediate checks were not showing any orbital objects in that area.
- The amount of waste as potential reflecting surfaces in the orbit of this time was very little.
- On November 16th 1974, mankind sent out its first aimed message, due to the tremendous energy needed, it had been a single transmission, too! Maybe in some million years, somewhere in Hercules, Messier 13, some intelligent beeing will receive our single signal, wondering why it cannot be repeated. It is thinkable, that the “Wow-Signal” is only a part of a series of messages with a period of several decades. See “signals”-section for more information.
